This past week was a big one for the Bird household. Isn't it amazing how you can be making plans towards one direction, then, with one phone call, your entire day/month/year changes entirely? Yes, Mr Lennon, Life is what happens when you're making other plans. When more is set in stone, I will share the pretty exciting developments.
This idea of change really caused me to rethink a lot of Big Picture items. So often, we resist change - the unknown, the discomfort of a change in routine, the entirely scrapping of one endeavor to make room for something entirely new and different and sometimes unexpected. Neurobiologists state that change is good for us on every level - that new experiences, alterations in how we do things and respond to things emotionally, create new ways of being, and new ways of Being create the space needed to attract the items, people, goals, and dreams which would not have been available to us without changing our beings.
As the saying goes: "If you want what you've never had, then you must be willing to do what you've never done before..."
In addition to a new course of action for our lives/ businesses/ year, we also received news that my youngest brother was brought to the ER with a heart scare. How many days go by in which we think that we have all the time in the world to be in touch with the ones we love, to tell them how much we care, to connect with them? It really is true - all we have certainty of is this present moment, this present Now.
The moral of this week seems to be - Be willing to adapt/change course at a moment's notice, and most importantly, don't let another moment pass you by in which you haven't reached out to the ones you love.
This weekend: Why don't you enjoy a leisurely breakfast? Call a loved one and tell them how much you care? Take it slow? Imagine your ideal self, ideal life, the best vision of who you are and how you wish to be in this world?
This weekend I will be going on a date with my husband, finishing my 2013 "adventure/dream" book (my first of the 52 DIY projects on my 2013 list of goals), compiling a list of the baby items we've yet to procure, and taking the time to connect with my friends and family.
XO
