Pinterest is my favorite space on the web. I've been visiting Pinterest daily since late 2010 for inspiration, motivation, and ideas. After over 2,000 "Pins", however, I realized that I had yet to really attempt any of the Home ideas, make any recipes, or craft one DIY project.
As my 2013 list of goals included making new weekly recipes, finishing one monthly home project, and hosting one monthly social gathering at home, Pinterest seemed like the most likely partner in crime for my goal setting efforts. Yet, something about visiting the site kept all of those good ideas more in the "idea" realm, and less in the action realm. So, I decided it was time to turn over a new (Pinterest) leaf.
Arming myself with my printer, a three ring binder, photo/scrapbook reusable pages, scissors, and an hour, I began creating a Pin-Spiration book. I found that using Google Chrome to print my boards was the easiest method for printing. (Make sure to print in Landscape and adjust your borders manually).
I then cut out all of the images which resonated the most with my current taste/mood (amazing how my taste has improved since my early pins in 2011... or maybe I've just changed - note to self: your tastes will change as time goes by) and for my 2013 project notions. I then organized them page by page.
The most wonderful aspect of taking the time to do this -? : I was able to see a pattern develop of things that inspired me over and over. As I really want to create an outdoor Boho Escape in our backyard before summer begins, I noticed the repeating patterns of color, hanging swings, twinkle lights, and materials. Creating the outdoor escape now seems a heck of a lot more manageable.
I also selected 52 recipes from all of my foodie pins to tackle this year. I made sure to visit the sites the images were pinned from and printed the recipes as well so that I would have easily accessible pages and recipes close at hand while in the kitchen.
If you have been using Pinterest to inspire your life, try taking it to the next level by taking your images off the computer and into your hands. I've already completed several of new projects since making this book for myself last week. Does this seem like a project you'd like to try?
